Shift differential and meal allowance provided for overnight schedules. Job Description: The American Red Cross has been there to provide lifesaving blood for those in need for more than 50 years. Our Collections Techs spend each day working at mobile blood drives assessing the eligibility of a donor through confidential health histories and performing phlebotomy on healthy volunteer donors. The work is repetitive we have to guarantee the consistency of the blood supply but the variety comes in the places visited and the diverse donors at each drive. Scheduling: Schedules for our collection staff members are determined by the blood drives scheduled for the week. Red Cross collects blood during the week, on weekends and holidays. Hours vary daily and involve extensive traveling within the local areas (approx. within a 2 hr radius) including paid commute time in a company vehicle. Red Cross provides work schedules 2-3 weeks in advance, although changes may be necessary. Candidates must confirm availability for flexibility in scheduling and for overnight travel. Paid training is provided for the position and lasts 12-14 weeks. Candidate must be able to accomodate training in Wichita KS for 12 weeks with overnight stay Mon-Fri and home on weekends only. Position is non-exempt, $10.00 per hour and includes an excellent benefits package.
