POSITION NEEDED: Inpatient Part-time (24 hpw) Registered Nurse (night shift)

JOB SUMMARY: Responsible for assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating the care for the extended recovery and acute care patients in accordance with the medical plan of care. Communicates findings as indicated to appropriate persons and documents same in the patient's medical record. Responsible for managing/overseeing the care and services provided by ancillary and other professional personnel. Responsible for managing supplies and other equipment within the unit. Develops and maintains a collaborative and collegial relationship with physicians and interdepartmental personnel as they relate to the care of the surgical patient.
QUALIFICATIONS: Licensure as a Registered Nurse in the State of Kansas, BLS and ACLS Certification recommended, Demonstrates ability to stand and/or walk at least five hours per day, Demonstrates ability to lift and/or carry over 20 pounds on a regular basis and Demonstrates ability to push/pull over 25 pounds on a regular basis.
OCCUPATIONAL EXPOSURE: Category I exposure to bloodborne pathogens, frequent exposure to chemical hazards and may encounter radiation hazards.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
1.) Assesses, plans, implements and evaluates nursing care in accordance with hospital policy/procedure and with departmental, area and national standards
2.) Ensure a safe supportive environment for staff, medical staff and patients
3.) Participates in thorough orientation of employees, in-service education and staff development to maximize productivity and minimize turnover
4.) Demonstrates effective interpersonal communication skills with all staff about departmental operation, practices, medical-legal and patient care issues
5.) Responsible for attendance and punctuality to ensure efficient and cost effective operations of the department. Uses budgeted supplies and equipment judiciously
6.) Assumes responsibility for keeping current with department organizational trends and customer needs through active participation in activities designed to enhance skills, professional and personal growth
7.) Demonstrates computer skills which include accessing various computer programs and correctly input data into the appropriate program
8.) Maintains all nursing certification, BLS and ACLS certification
9.) Treats all patients equally in accordance to Patient Rights
10.) Acts on behalf of the patient advocate
11.) Reviews and carries out physician orders in an appropriate professional manner
12.) Willingness to assist with other duties when asked
